Antique shopping in Cleveland and the surrounding area is like a treasure hunt. There's so many places to stop and visit in such a concentrated location that you're sure to find something that you have to take home with you. From antique galleries to experimental thrifts stores, Cleveland's got it all, so check out this sampling of the antique stores that the birthplace of rock 'n roll has to offer.
Where To Start Your Hunt
Whether you're a long-time resident or a new visitor, any large city can feel overwhelming. Thankfully, there's two different sections of the Cleveland area that you can explore which have multiple different antique stores and thrift shops within close proximity of one another that'll let you get lost for hours:
Lorain Avenue
This three-mile section of the west side Cleveland thoroughfare is home to a collection of antique salvage emporiums, where you can find such goodies as leaded glass windowpanes, antique door hardware, and Eames pieces if you're interested. The shops in this area tend to be a bit dusty and disorganized, adding to the fun of hunting for the next piece to add to your collection.
Larchmere Boulevard Antiques District
Located on Cleveland's east side, this two-mile stretch is home to dozens of antique shows as well as art galleries and interesting eateries. Among the highlights are Sylvia Ullman's American Craft Gallery (a showcase for regional potters, glass artists, painters, and wood workers), Shaker Square Antiques (an expensive and elegant antiques gallery), and Thriftique (a funky thrift store with everything from early 20th century wooden furniture to lava lamps).
